Registration

  • Please note. When you sign up and attend classes you are committed to a full season. You will be billed accordingly. If a student drops out of classes you must sign a drop form to prevent further billing.

  • A non–refundable annual fee of $15.00 per student ($25 per family) is required yearly at time of registration. This will reserve the student a place in class. Parents must fill out the Registration Form, as well as, the Consent and Release Form before starting class. (Either online or in studio!)

  • There is a $10 registration fee for summer for all students that will reserve the student a place in summer classes.

  • 2019/2020 Fall - Spring Session runs from Sept. 9th, 2019 to June 7th, 2020

 

Tuition Policies

Our goal at Make Your Move is to make dance as accessible to everyone as it possibly can be. For this reason, we run on recommended monthly tuition rates. If you are unable to pay the rate recommended, please contact us so we can meet and discuss an option that would work for you! Our financial assistance application forms are available in the studio during normal business hours.

  • Tuition for classes is as follows:

  • 30 Minute classes are $25.00 per month. Per child enrolled.

  • 45 Minute to 1 Hour classes are $30.00 per month. Per child enrolled.

  • WE WILL NOT PRORATE TUITION!!! 

  • Tuition is due on the 1st of every month, and must be paid by the 10th. Failure to pay without notice to the faculty will result in your child being removed from class until the tuition is paid in full. 

  • NEW FOR 2019/2020: A $10 late fee will be applied to balances unpaid after the 10th of each month.

  • A $50 late fee will be applied to accounts past due 3 months. After 6 months your bill will be forwarded to a debt collection agency. 

  • Financial aid is available for low-income or struggling families. Your total bill once enrolled in class must be over $40.00 to apply.

  • Private classes are are payable by thirty minute time blocks. Each 30 minute class is $20.00 per time block.

  • All sales are final and non-refundable.

  • If you choose to drop a class. Please discuss it with our faculty first! Accounts will accumulate costs of prior or dropped classes until a drop form has been signed by the parent or guardian.

  • Any bounced checks will incur a $30 fee. 

Costumes, Cheer Uniforms, and Photos
For the Spring Performance, each dancer will receive a beautiful costume for each class they are enrolled in. Although costumes can get pricey, MYMPA tries its hardest to choose costumes that are more budget friendly and will not exceed $65 per class. You pay the EXACT price of the costume. AND, We have our costumes picked out and available for viewing on the first month of class! Payment is due by November 22nd – if you have a credit card on file, we will add the costume cost to your November tuition. You may break down your costume payments over Sept. - Nov.

  • Costume Fees are due starting October 1st, And should be payed no later than November 22nd.

  • Cheer Uniform Fees are due upon enrollment.  All Uniforms should be paid in full no later than your first class date.

  • Costumes prices vary per class. A $10 Fee is added to all costumes to cover cost of tights and accessories. 

  • Cheer Uniforms are $55.00 Individually and $85.00 for the class package. Which includes shoes and a bow.

  • Failure to pay costume fee by December 21st, will result in removal of your student from the spring showcase dance. 

  • If you would prefer your child not perform in the spring show, you may opt out of costume fees. They will still be welcome to attend class and learn along with others that will be performing.

  • End of the year photos are taken in costume. If you opt out of costumes, you are welcome to come have your photo taken separately in a nice outfit.

  • Please note, The older your child is, the more expensive a costume tends to be. This is out of our control and we assure you all costumes chosen will be of quality and age-appropriateness.

  • When you sign up for class, you are asked to sign a medical and photo release. These waivers are granted perpetuity.

Conduct and Behavior Policies​ 

  • NEW FOR 2019/2020: Please be considerate of our staff and teachers privacy. Do not message any MYM affiliates on their private social media about studio related questions. We have multiple sources of communication including the studio FB page, instagram, email, phone, or live chat on our site. We aim to answer these questions during business hours. Mon-Thurs. 4PM to 9PM

  • Lobby Behavior - At MYM, we want you to cherish the lobby we have provided for both parents and students. With this said, we wish to maintain a peaceful and respectful atmosphere, keeping shoes off furniture, voices at a medium to low level, and any messes cleaned up. Should any conflict ever occur within the lobby, we ask you to contact a faculty member in an effort to diffuse the issue outside studio doors.

  • If a parent is disrespectful or rude to our staff or students for any reason, they will be asked to leave without a refund. We are providing you a service. Bullying will be not tolerated.

  • Parents are not allowed in the dance rooms. We have viewing T.V's for this reason. 

  • Students must arrive on time to participate in class activities.

  • Respectful behavior is expected of everyone.  If a student is exhibiting rude or slanderous behavior, they may be warned, then asked to leave.

  • Students are expected to participate in class. They may not sit out unless asked or excused for injury.

  • If you are waiting in the lobby, please be respectful of others waiting there with you. 

  • Please don't let other children wander around the building while waiting for class to start or end.

  • Please clean up after yourself when using the waiting area.


Dance class is educational and fun, however, an important part of class work is developing an attitude of discipline and respect for teachers and fellow students. We trust that following our classroom etiquette will provide an environment whereby classes at Make Your Move will be a pleasure for all involved.


YOUNG CHILDREN: All students are encouraged not to leave the room once class has begun. Please allow for appropriate restroom use prior to class. Very young children will be treated sensitively as the need arises. Parents should not come into the room unless directed to do so. Preschool children may need a parent’s attention from time to time for various reasons including bathroom or behavior issues, but this should be initiated by the Teacher. Please do not leave the waiting area when very young children are in class without informing the teacher or having another parent responsible during your absence. We make every effort to have all children feel safe and cared for in a loving and inspiring learning environment.


OLDER STUDENTS: School age children and teens: please practice respect. Students are not to be socializing in a disruptive manner during the class with other students. Please come early or stay late to enjoy friends in the waiting area.  Please honor your teacher and fellow students by giving full attention and cooperation. You will be advised if we feel any student is not well adjusted to the classroom environment for any reason over time.
Feel free to watch class through the viewing windows, wait in the lobby or take advantage of our great location by running some errands. Classes run back to back, so please be prompt to pick up your child as teachers are unable to tend children after class has let out. Make Your Move is not responsible for providing before or after class care for students. Students are not to be left at the school for excessive time periods before or after their classes. Please be aware that we always allow parents to stay at the studio during class, but younger siblings and loud conversations in the waiting area are not only a disruption to the dancers and teachers but also the parents who are trying to watch their children.  If you have a question or concern feel free to email or call us and we’ll be happy to talk outside of class time. If you have other children with you as you wait in the lobby, please be respectful of the studio and tidy any messes you or your children may make.

Food and Drink

  • Due to the age of our current building location, we do not have access to a water fountain. We ask that all students bring their own water bottle. (Supplied at the beginning of the season.)

  • Any drink that is brought facility must have a lid, drinks brought into the studio rooms must be in plastic containers with lids, no glass containers EVER.

  • Students and parents are responsible for cleaning up their trash before leaving. We have a beautiful facility and we would like to keep it looking that way so PLEASE DO NOT leave your mess for others to clean up.

​Photo/Video/Audio Release

  • Make Your Move Performing Arts is hereby granted permission to photography; video, film and/or audio record you child.  Parents will sign a consent form for such material for all uses including but not limited to; recital videos, class photos, brochures, web sites, posters, advertisements and other promotional materials the studio creates.  Permission is also hereby granted for MYM to copyright such photographs in its name.  This release is granted perpetuity.  ​

Dress Code

  • Dancers are required to wear proper attire. Such as: Leotards, tights, shorts, sport pants, skirts, etc. These items are available for purchase from our front desk.

  • Shoes are also available for order or you may go buy them on your own. Shoe requirements for class are as follows: BALLET: Pink canvas or leather slippers. JAZZ: Tan slip on or tie leather booties. HIP-HOP: Converse or knock-off brand tennis shoes. (Available at the front desk for order.) TAP: Black tie or slip on tap shoes. CHEER: White Tennis Shoe. CREATIVE MOVEMENT: Pink canvas or leather slippers.

  • Company Dancers are required to come to class in formal dance attire. (NO EXCEPTIONS.)

  • Long hair must be pulled back and secured from face. For all ballet classes, hair is worn in a secured bun.

  • Warm-ups or capris may be acceptable for some classes if teacher gives permission. No jeans, baggy clothes or street shoes are to be worn in class.

  • No street shoes are allowed on the dance floors in the dance rooms.  Please remove street shoes before entering all dance rooms.

Special Events and Parades

  • We participate in the following special events in our community: The Chamber of Commerce Ladies Night Out (Late September), Baldwin Maple Leaf Parade (Mid October), The Ottawa Veterans Day Parade (Early November), and The Bethel Academy Women's Lunchon (Late February)

  • We host the following special events: Community Mother Daughter Tea (Late September) , Community Father Daughter Dance (Early February), Enroll and Swim Party at The ORC Pool (Late July), and Our annual Spring Showcase (Mid May.)

Holidays, Extreme Weather, or Unexpected Interruption of Classes

Substitution

 

  • On the off chance any faculty member is unable to teach their scheduled class, MYM reserves the right to call in a substitution for the class and will handle all such substitutions in advance.
